How To Take Care Of Your Hardwood FlooringHardwood floors are a splendid addition to a home, and can make your house look classic and stunning. Hardwood floors might look fantastic when new, but over time, dirt and grime can ruin them. Here are some tips for you if you want to take care of your hardwood flooring and keep it looking as good as new!1)    Never use any cleaning products or polish that isn’t designed for hardwood floors. There are lots of products on the market that can be harmful to your hardwood floors. Some products can stain the wood, whilst others can strip colour or tarnish the grain. If you want to keep your hardwood floors in the best condition possible then you should avoid any chemical products that aren’t specifically designed for hardwood flooring! 2)    Be careful when using water.Water is great for cleaning up spills and stains, but it can cause lots of damage to your hardwood. Exposure to too much water can eventually lead to the wood rotting, so avoid using large amounts of water. A damp cloth is fine to use, and will get rid of dirt just as well as a mop and bucket if you use a little patience and tender loving care! 3)    If you aren’t sure then do the research! If you want to use a cleaning product or polish on your floors but you aren’t sure whether or not it will cause any damage then do your research. The internet is an invaluable tool that can help you decipher what specific products you can and can’t use on your hardwood floors. 4)    Invest in felt contacts for your furniture. If you move your furniture around or rearrange your room layouts quite often then you need to be wary of scratching or scraping the floors. It’s easy for hardwood flooring to scratch, so take care when moving furniture. Never drag items around the room and invest in felt contacts to put under the legs of your furniture to make it easier to move and less likely to cause damage. 5)    Cleaning your floors.Begin by vacuuming the room. Although lots of people might sweep their hardwood floors this can cause dirt and dust to fall into the cracks between the boards. Vacuum thoroughly but try to avoid using vacuum attachments as these can scratch the floor very easily. A damp cloth is ideal for wiping up mess when you’re on-the-go, but always stick to products that can be used on hardwood floors! You might also want to try microfiber cleaning for thorough and deep cleanses. A mop with a microfiber head is a fantastic way to clean your hardwood as it won’t cause any scratches and will make cleaning very quick and easy! 6)    Stopping discolouration. There isn’t a huge amount that can be done when your floors begin to show signs of discolouration. Try to stop the issue from becoming a problem by ensuring that blinds or curtains are used to stop the sunlight from bleaching or tarnishing the boards of your floor. 7)    Use rugs in your home.Rugs are a great way to you to keep your floors from showing signs of wear. Invest in a good rug that matches the room and place it in high-traffic areas. Footwear, pet claws and furniture can all make the floors appear scratched or worn, but a rug can easily conceal marks or prevent future damages.
